SHERATON’S TOP 5 FREE PICKS TO DO ON THE FYLDE COAST

Three countries will participate over three nights in the autumn – Saturday 16 September, Saturday 30 September and Friday 20 October.

The stunning displays, which are set to music, will take place over the beach in front of The Blackpool Tower. All of them are free to access.

Over the years, the firework events have become one of the resort’s biggest draws. In 2022, each of the events attracted more than 50,000 spectators to the Tower Festival Headland.

Details of this year’s competing countries will be announced over the coming months.

Cllr Lynn Williams, Leader of Blackpool Council, said: “World Fireworks Blackpool is one of the most popular events in our autumn calendar.

“These are free family events and prove enormously popular with residents and visitors alike. We can’t wait to bring this magnificent spectacle back to the seafront later this year.”

The three displays form an integral part of Blackpool’s major events programme which this year will see the return of the two-day Air Show on August 12 and 13, Ride The Lights on August 29, the Illuminations Switch-On celebration on September 1, and Lightpool Festival from October 20-28.

Blackpool Airshow is two days packed with fantastic aerial entertainment, with some of the world’s finest military and civilian aircraft heading to our coastline.

Watch in wonder as some of the world’s most incredible aircraft and aviators perform jaw dropping aerobatics and fly-bys over Blackpool seafront.

A brilliant weekend of free family entertainment with food stalls, sideshows and a real festival atmosphere.

Dates for the 2023 Blackpool Air Show will be the weekend of August 12th and 13th.

Take a stroll where every step brings a new giggle as Blackpool welcomes a brand new floor covering with a difference. Blackpool’s brand new Comedy Carpet sits in the shadow of the world famous Blackpool Tower – and it’s one of the largest pieces of public art ever commissioned in the UK.

There’s nothing like the British sense of humour, and a visit to Blackpool’s Comedy Carpet is a bit like a trip to the Hollywood Walk of Fame; but immortalising and celebrating the jokes, songs and comedy catchphrases of Britain’s most well loved comedians and writers. It’s been called the horizontal Angel of the North – a must visit spot.

The carpet is part of Tower Festival Headland – a brand new events space in the resort, which will host huge events with a capacity of 20,000 as well as a brand new low-carbon-emission wedding venue with breath-taking views across the beach and sea.

There’s nothing quite like a day at the seaside, and Blackpool is one of the best beach resorts you will find in the UK.

The whole family will love relaxing in the sun, taking a dip in the sea and enjoying an ice cream along the promenade here in Blackpool. There is plenty of space for sandcastles, sunbathing and family games, so you really can make a day of it.

Of course, Blackpool is also the only British beach resort to boast three fabulous piers, so don’t forget to pay these a visit as part of your day at the beach.

Penny Farm is a great day out for the whole family. Meet the horses on the farm; home to around 65 at any one time, explore the farm with a fun activity trail and learn about wild birds and animals on the farm environment.
